Auburn University’s Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art needed a killer promotion for their first post-Covid event – Bernini and the Roman Baroque: Masterpieces from Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia. These 17th century pieces conveyed the characteristic Baroque aesthetic, with an abundance of detail, dramatic color, and spiritual themes.
We decided to graffiti them.
In an effort to put a cool spin on this exhibit of 400-year-old paintings, we added cheeky current phrases like, “17th century, but make it slap,” and added party hats on the subjects. What resulted was a marriage of old and new that wowed the public and brought in tons of individuals to the exhibit.
